As we're following the election season we decided to share profiles on the candidates and their campaign staff. We believe the residents of the RGV deserve to have all the information available.
To kickoff our profile series, we will start with information received from our followers, and verified by public records.
Our attention was immediately grabbed when a user sent the following alarming warning:
"Attention La Joya ISD!!!!!! This person CANNOT be trusted. She is a bad person that lies, has a criminal record, and is involved with politics that are corrupted. BEWARE! She is known to steal from people and is probably stealing from the politicians she is helping. If she tells you she can help you remove any tickets DO NOT believe her, she will do it just to get money out of you. Yes, she does have connections but she will not do you the favor of removing your ticket without getting something out of it and will not even take those tickets off for you. This person only cares about herself and helping corrupted people. She will say she will get you votes but it is all LIES, she only cares about getting money anyway she can. ALERT!!! This lady will do harm to immigrants, poor people, basically EVERYONE!!!!!"
Apparently this concerned citizen is talking about known La Joya politiquera Sylvia Rodriguez / Flores. A quick social media search reveal that she has worked with several campaigns throughout the years. Hidalgo County Public Records show she has been arrested and jailed multiple times for cirmes ranging from credit card abuse; to multiple theft charges of $2500.00 or more and even a property theft charge as early as late last year currently has a pending felony case for grand theft! Not sure if she caught those charges for stealing from the people... or stealing from the politicians... I guess they took "no honor among thieves" to the next level... yikes!
